This academic year, I aim to further strengthen and develop our ‘Pupil Voice’ in school. Our School Council and UNICEF Rights Respecting Groups in school played a major role in significant improvements to school last year. Through raising funds for the purchase of play and exercise equipment and leading on planning and improvements to the community play-park, our pupils were able to develop their knowledge and understanding within a range of key British Values such as, ‘Democracy and the Rule of Law’, ‘To respect the opinion and beliefs of others’, ‘To be committed to personal and social responsibilities’ and ‘To develop a sense of community and togetherness’. Inviting our local M.P. for a visit to school towards the end of last academic year was a key highlight for many pupils and we now plan to visit The Houses of Parliament after a return invite from Laura Pidcock M.P.
School Council elections have taken place this week to elect new class representatives and I look forward to working closely with our new School Council throughout the year!
